Black Canyon, Western Colorado

Aug 27, 2012
Flying from Crawford Airpark, Colorado.

Black Canyon, in Western Colorado, is the deepest for it's width of any canyon in the world.
It's not an erosion canyon, but is actually a deep crack in the earth.

............................................................................

This the remaining plug of a 25,000 ft volcano that once stood here.

This is nearby North Fork Airfield at Paonia.
It fits exactly on top of this little mesa.

This Crawford Airpark that I used as a base.
This is a very beautiful part of Colorado!
I found excellent hospitality from Karl and Judy here.

The storms of the 'monsoon' season have started,
so it's time to get the little aircraft safely packed away.
Once again, I'm glad that I'm travelling with a hangar on wheels.
